In Honor of LIVand the dream that still lives on

Olivia “Liv” Perrotto. A 15-year-old dreamer from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, who loved space so much her family called her “NASA.” Her story did not end — it is just beginning.

Her story

The girl
who loved space

Born on July 28, 2010 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Liv grew up with her parents Joel and Rebecca and her younger sister Abby.

From the very beginning she was obsessed with space — rockets, astronomy, exploration. Her family lovingly nicknamed her “NASA.” She was artistic, curious, kind, and adored her cats Mao Mao and Yuki, who stayed by her side until the very end.

In March 2021, at just 10 years old, Liv was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma — a rare and aggressive soft-tissue cancer. What seemed like a swollen jaw turned into a five-year battle of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and clinical trials.

She fought with a courage the world envies in grown men.

In 2021 the Inspiration4 crew invited Liv to witness their historic launch in Florida — the first all-civilian orbital mission, which raised over $250 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Her dream of space had begun to touch reality.

On January 14, 2026, at age 15, Liv passed away peacefully at home, cradled in her mother Rebecca's arms and surrounded by her family. Her obituary said it best: “She dreamed of going to space herself, and in many ways, she already did.”

Asteroid,
the Space Shiba Inu

In January 2022, at age 11, the Polaris Program crew asked Liv to design the zero-gravity indicator for the Polaris Dawn mission — a small object that floats inside the capsule when microgravity begins.

She sketched Asteroidin about 30 minutes — a Shiba Inu astronaut inspired by Elon Musk's dog Floki.

The Polaris Dawn team turned her drawing into a real plush. On September 10, 2024, Asteroid floated weightless aboard the Dragon capsule during the first-ever civilian spacewalk. A piece of Liv had reached space.

At Liv's request, sales of the Asteroid plush raised millions of dollarsfor St. Jude Children's Research Hospital — helping other children fighting the same battle she did.

Questions she dreamed of asking

Eight questions
for Elon

Liv's biggest dream was to meet Elon Musk. She had a handwritten list of questions on her nightstand. A call was arranged as her condition worsened — but she was too tired and said: “Tell him to call tomorrow, I'm tired.” The call never happened. These are her questions, unanswered.
